Made for another world

Sister to Sister: Intercession

Welcome to Sister to Sister! The opportunity for you to write words of truth and honesty that bring encouragement to other sisters. Feel free to link up a story, a lesson, a quote, a song or a scripture that's meaningful to you. Be creative, be expressive, be real.

"He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love." Ephesians 4:16

Here's how it works:
* Every week I'll share a word I'm focusing on. If you'd like to join me in posting on that topic, wonderful. If not, link up with an encouraging post you'd like to share.

* Link up bellow and spread the love! Visit other sister's posts and let them know what their words mean to you!

*Grab the code for the Sister to Sister link up button from the sidebar to the right, or copy and past the graphic to the left linking this post to it, and invite others to join.

Are you ready? Join me this week in inspiring other women with your thoughts on:
Intercession...
Words; spoken, breathed, lifted up, cried on behalf of another are a most precious gift. But perhaps more than a gift, they are a responsibility.

Ephesians 6:18 says "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." Why pray for "the Lord's people?" Why not unbelievers that don't know the truth?

Because we belong to each other. Because the promises we lift to God, reminding him of what we know to be true, were made to his children.

I could tell stories of God answering prayer in tender and amazing ways for siblings in Christ. I could describe how my faith has been boosted by God's answer when I call.

Ultimately when it comes to intercession it's really about community, it's not about me. Interceding for others ties our hearts together, it builds up the body, it's our responsibility to one another.

Are we willing to pay the cost of time and energy spent on behalf of a friend? Do we believe prayer touches the heart of God and can effect another person's life?

One of the most powerful ways to pray effectively for a friend is reminding God of the promises in his word. Won't you join with me in asking who God would have you pray for? What a joy to serve another, to wash their life in the powerful words of God's truth.

  1. Beck, you wrote a beautiful post on intercession, but that was a tough word you threw out there! I understand intercession, but to sit down and right about it wasn't the easiest thing I've done. Thanks for challenging me to think about it today.
