Made for another world
"If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in the world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." C. S. Lewis

Better than gold
Every word of scripture is more precious than gold, it is life. From Genesis to Revelation, Deuteronomy to Hebrews, God is revealing his character if we will only listen. Do you feel that the book of John or Hebrews is more relevant to you than Deuteronomy or Leviticus? I believe that is personal preference and not actually truth. If we are willing to meet God in the pages of his word and have the person of his Word revealed to us by his Spirit, we can find holy moments even in the genealogies or details of the law. God does everything with purpose and his ultimate purpose is his glory. If he took the time to include details we personally consider uninspiring there is a reason and our lack of inspiration is our fault not his. I believe with all my heart that if we select favorite sections of the bible and stay there to avoid less appealing chapters we are creating for ourselves a shallow view of God. Certainly there are verses and books the Spirit has used in the past to encourage and instruct and we think tenderly on them. But we shouldn't stay there in comfort. For example, I believe we won't understand the heavenly dwelling of God as depicted in Revelation with depth and intimacy if we don't also understand all the forms of his earthly dwelling. The garden of Eden, the desert Tabernacle and the person of Jesus communicate an aspect of God's past, present and future desire to dwell with man. Deuteronomy interprets Hebrews and John. Acts fulfills Numbers. It's so important to remember that scripture interprets scripture. And only the Spirit can open our minds to it's interpretation; our emotions, experiences and intellect can not. So let's be bold and drink deeply from the words of truth. They are our very life, every one of them, and the Spirit is our guide. On to the Adventure!
