Made for another world
"If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in the world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." C. S. Lewis

Promises
This morning Max and I stepped outside to be greeted by a promise. The most amazing rainbow, with a faint double outlining it, dazzled us. On the way to school we talked about the visible reminder God has given us of his faithfulness. Obviously the rainbow highlights a specific promise of God's regarding the flood, but I think it can remind us of the nature of our promise Keeper as well. The rainbow was a beautiful, bold reminder that God's nature is true and good. He will keep his promise to forgive us, redeem us, protect us, to act according to his name, to give us an inheritance and future just as surely as he'll keep his promise not to destroy all of creation by flood again. What a comfort as our family steps out on the path of change to know that the nature of God never changes, that his promise to guide and empower us is wrapped up in the strength of his name. All of God's promises are trustworthy and true because they are based on his character of faithfulness. "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23

That's beautiful, Beck. Both the rainbow and your understanding and benefit from it. That was a gift to you and Max, a beautiful gift.
